    I didn’t know all of this was going on. I only own one sezane item and it’s the leontine jumper in camel. I was immediately in love with it. I’m sad to now find out that the quality in fabric is going down and now bigger financial companies own part of sezane. I feel as though lately everything is decreasing in quality and things feel cheap. I’m gravitating towards vintage items and natural materials because things made now just suck.

    • @thelisbonblogger
      @thelisbonblogger 2 дні тому

      That is unfortunately the reality, a decrease in quality overall and across fashion Brands. It's harder and harder to find quality in stores. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this subject.

  • @KimberlyPerrotis
    @KimberlyPerrotis 3 дні тому

    Thanks for this Sandra, I didn’t know about these financial changes and it explains a lot. It used to be such a great brand, what a shame. If investors want brands to do well, they should give us what we want, classic designs in high-quality, all natural fibers. I’ve seen this degradation happen to so many formerly excellent brands like Ralph Lauren and Banana Republic. There are so many of us who just won’t buy plastic crap, whatever we have to pay for the real thing -wearable, natural, breathable fabrics. Theory is my last hope.

    • @thelisbonblogger
      @thelisbonblogger 3 дні тому

      Yes, this is happening with the entire fashion world... Small brands bought by huge financial groups and completely change their market approach. Nonetheless, in my opinion Sézane still has some investment pieces worth buying. Thank you ❤️

  • @KimberlyPerrotis

    The only good thing I have to say about Sezane in 2024 is that at least some of my orders haven’t been drenched in that hideous perfume they used to use. Even washing and steaming doesn’t get it all out. That goat leather they use makes me vomit - never again will I buy a garment made of that.

    • @thelisbonblogger
      @thelisbonblogger 3 дні тому

      I really love their perfume, even bought a bottle myself. So, I don't mind. I understand this is not everybody's cup of tea and it's not the best to do.

  • @KimberlyPerrotis
    @KimberlyPerrotis 3 дні тому

    I haven’t been happy with my last Sezane items, especially with their crappy fabrics. Their knits are so incredibly itchy and hot that they’re not wearable, I’m selling mine. I’m also grumpy because the shoes I wanted sold out immediately and haven’t been restocked in months and months, I’m sick of checking their site all the time and am looking at alternatives. They also don’t make anything in silk anymore except that Chlo blouse that I don’t want, and they don’t make anything in white, my favorite color, only a yellowish ivory. They never have colors for us cool-toned women and most pieces are too dramatically “statement”, really costumey. They are just too noticeable and dramatic for a second wearing. The only thing I still like is the Betty cardigan, but I have enough. They just keep limiting stock so much to create urgency and hype about the brand, rather than making their customers happy. They don’t even have reviews, which help a lot. I would have know, for example, that the cotton dress I got is made out of a canvas so stiff it can’t even be fastened, it’s the proper weight only for an industrial awning.

    • @thelisbonblogger
      @thelisbonblogger 3 дні тому

      Thank you Kimberly for sharing your thoughts on this subject. I totally agree that Sézane should include reviews on the website as they help the customer to decide sizes, feel of the fabric, if it runs small or big, etc.

    I just read a discussion on Reddit from a year ago discussing Sezane fakes that are out there and to beware. There was a person that commented that said something pretty alarming, if it's true. She said that Sezane is having products 80-90% completed in China and then they ship to somewhere in Europe to have it finished so it can have the "Made in European Country" tag. I really hope that's not true, as I like their Organic Cotton clothing and would not buy it if it was really made in China. I don't know how to verify this. I don't think Sezane would admit it, even if it was true.

    I understand many of the points you make in favor of Sézane. I still buy something from Sézane every now and then, especially because of the beautiful colors and high wool content. However, I disagree with one point: Even though I understand the use of polyester in pleated skirts, Sézane now uses plastic fibers in many other items of clothing where it is not absolutely necessary, just to make them cheaper to produce. Given the high level of environmental pollution that we have worldwide due to these fibers, I don't think it's right to shift the responsibility for this solely onto the customer, in the sense that we should just check carefully and choose wisely what we buy. The responsibility should lie with the companies, who should only use plastic fibers in exceptional cases. Of course, there are much, much worse companies than Sézane (e.g. Shein), but for me that still doesn't absolve Sézane of responsibility, as they originally positioned themselves as a brand striving for sustainability.

    • @thelisbonblogger
      @thelisbonblogger 4 дні тому

      Thank you Sophia. They have increased the use of viscose over silk, but viscose is not plastic it's actually made out of wood pulp. It's manmade I know but it's not plastic. What I meant was from the same price point, similar brands, offer way more plastic fibers and less natural ones. You don't have to go to fastfashion brands to find this, I remember a blazer from Rosaé with only 15% wool, the rest being plastic fibers and much more expensive. It's really sad that the world is down this route, manufacturing more and more out of plastic. Even luxury brands do it!

  • @sparklie962
    @sparklie962 5 днів тому

    While I have noted a drop in quality, as you say many pieces are still absolutely great - especially the core/essential pieces. It's like any other brand - even luxury brands sell some junk here and there. I always pay careful attention to the materials and details information - e.g., is the fabric appropriate for the type of garment? Is it lined when it should be lined? How hard is it to care for? etc. Overall I'm still finding the quality far superior to anything I can find locally and if Sezane's latest moves are causing me to be more thoughtful about purchasing - so much the better.

    Hi Sandra, thanks for this video. Very nicely worded and structured. While I agree with the majority of the points, especially those made at the beginning, I do think that the quality is decreasing in some of the classic even. I have a lot of knits that are the same model in different colors or prints, for example, and I can assure that the newer ones pill, and the older ones are still intact after 4 years. Since the composition doesn’t change, I wonder if it’s the sourcing of the raw materials that did. I have found dirty clothes and odd bits in recent packages, and I think it’s not good and fair for any price point, especially Sézane’s. It’s absolutely true that their customer care is amazing (another reason why I stay with Sézane), but I also think that it’s fair for people to show and express their opinion publicly because it helps other consumers and also pressures the brand into doing better to maintain their image. That all being said, for the styles and material proposed, as well as the sizes selection, Sézane’s prices are still the best on the market.

    Fast fashion trend that Sezane falls under is the most disappointing thing to me, new pieces 2-3 times a week now that’s a lot. Plus I can’t justify about 250$ price tag for a polyester or viscose. Recycled polyester item can’t cost that much, we are not taking hand made items that involve tons of time of labor.

    Hi Sandra, I love Sézane. However, I have noticed some decrease in quality. There are items I could buy from somewhere else at a fraction of the price. So now, I do my research before placing any order just so I won't get disappointed. With that being said, Sézane remains one of my favourite brands. Thank you for the video. Cheers!❤️

      Thanks for sharing! I do the same, only buy the best quality Sézane has to offer. When I receive a package I analyse all the pieces, as despite the fabric composition, I might not like the construction or any other detail. I only keep what I consider the best, the rest goes back.

    Thanks for making this video. I have been shopping from Sezane since 2020 and still love the brand. I agree that the number of drops became more frequent recently, however I still see pieces I like and have not experienced any quality issues with my more recent purchases. I also agree that their customer services is very responsive and good at solving problems in favour of the customer. In my opinion, it is difficult to find an alternative brand which offers the same level of aesthetics and quality for the price point. Each time I compare a product with similar brands (i.e. Sessun, Bash, Route, Maje, Sandro), I turn back to Sezane noticing that these brands are always more expensive and do not offer a higher aesthetic or quality. I especially love Sezane’s autumn collections and have already ordered a few items that I am looking forward to wear soon.

    • @thelisbonblogger

    As someone who has shopped the brand for a few years , I can add that i respect your opinion but also there is reason why people are mad or upset about the change. It’s the quality, the price is going up but the quality is not the same . I have ordered 5x and returned every single order, why you might ask ? It was horrible stiff , smelly , and cut so short ! Thrown in the box , I don’t need special packaging, I don’t mind that , but to get the wrong items , sent is also off putting! Size also for pants has changed and I fit all my other stuff still so I definitely didn’t gain weight! I will still shop in hopes it will come and look good ! But we need to address that this is not the some brand anymore and all the upset costumers are sad being we loved it for what it was ! And it’s just not it anymore!

      I'm sorry that you had these bad experiences. I mentioned that the quality has indeed decreased for some items, there's no silk skirts anymore which is a shame, but there are others at really amazing quality. They've increased their merino knits, there's more designs made in cotton and merino, which I do appreciate. Thank you for giving your thoughts on this topic.

    It's okay for a brands to grow. It's also okay for consumers to complain about a brand, especially when that brand has fallen short on certain ethical and quality standards.

    I totally agree with you! Like any other brand not all of their pieces will be perfect, for example, I avoid their sweaters with synthetics in them. But at least in my experience, most of the pieces I own from the brand are good quality

    I started shopping at Sezane this year and so far i havent had any offensive problems?? The worst ones have been slow email updates but i understand the Archives/new collection drops are a busy time. Nearly all the items i've bought are made with natural materials and they are items i get excited to wear on the weekends when i dont wear medical scrubs. The exceptions are my Paula Babies and Clyde trench but after searching through dupes, i cant find items elsewhere in a style i like more or in the same composition (it's so hard to find trench coats without a 100% polyester lining lol)

    Agreed. I’ve stopped watching specifically 1 UA-camr who used to covered Sezane & shared her reasonable opinions for an average body type girl. And then she posted this bashing Sezane video, which suddenly increased her subscribers’ base by few thousands. What?.. They are doing it to create drama by “breaking up” with Sezane & increase their viewership. Really shady practices! I agree, any business has the right to grow & and a consumer has the right to choose wisely. I too have many pieces of outstanding quality of Sezane fashion and continue to love it. Each collection has a few items ‘for me” so it’s hard to choose. Thank you for creating this vid! Hopefully ppl with realize that they were taken for a ride, only to help other channels grow. 😘

      @@diki7068 you unfollowed her just because she shared an honest video about the negative sides of Sezane? I've been following her since the video because I'd rather know the truth about fabrics and how clothes are made than all these videos from Instagrammers who just talk things up and get money for it. I love Sezane, but I think the critical reports are very important especially for new consumers. That has nothing to do with wanting more followers. I find it very presumptuous to say that, to be honest. No go.

      @nanagnocche Personally, I unfollowed her because she shamelessly included her dissatisfaction that sezane hasn't offered her a collaboration in the same "bashing " video. That made the whole "giving my honest opinion " video a joke, to be honest. As for letting new customers know about the clothes composition, I think it is pointless as everyone can read the description on the site. IMO, she was frustrated that the brand didn't notice her and decided to retaliate in this way, which strips her opinion of honesty.

    • @lelaki100001
      @lelaki100001 5 днів тому

      I totally agree and I would like to add that she attached her disappointment that sezane hasn't offered her a collaboration to this video, which made the whole thing seem dishonest. She even had to make an explanation post under the video after the backlash she got. I think she will soon realize that she backed herself into a corner because her subscriber base consists mainly of people who are sezane customers, so now she can't really buy sezane at the rate she did and other brands don't have Sézane's free returns policy, which is a great help to influences.

    I have also been buying from Sézane since 2017 and still own many of the pieces from way back . I have never had an issue with their pieces and just love their quality and uniqueness. I have had gaspard cardigans for years and they wash well and are worn on repeat through spring, autumn and winter . Yes they have expanded and drop more collections than I care for ( tbh I liked before buying from a small brand that no one else knew !! ) I also would prefer to pay a bit more to keep manufacturing in Europe . I guess at 57 I know what I like , keep to the classics , avoid prints that are too loud and like you will still grow my collection that will be around for years . Really good video 😊😊

    I bought my first things from Sezane in 2016, but bought alot from the last two seasons. I have now had a few issues and do not find their customer service as helpful - I wore my Rosa sandals for only an hour the first time and the insole lifted off, they did not want to offer a replacement and by the time they agreed they were out of stock, when they did come back into stock, the wrong size was inside the right size box but instead of asking for it sent back to France they said send it back to the local warehouse and I ended up getting them sent to me twice! I still haven’t had it resolved. Another top had the lace fraying after only two wears - their response was thats normal. Its not, the edging of the fabric has disappeared across a number of the edges and has threads hanging.

    it's the beginning of the end - the whole reason why early sezane fans liked the brand is because it was independently owned, slow-fashion (they only produced a handful of different designs, and you could find the same items in different colors every season), high quality, made in europe, and environmentally friendly. now, all of this is completely gone - having been bought by a large group has, first and foremost, changed their entire brand philosophy. it's consumerism at its peak with multiple collections for each season and lots of items per each collection; most styles do not return for the next season, which makes items seem dated (not that there's anything wrong with wearing clothes from last season, but the fact that sezane was making the same items over and over again made them seem ever current, which was one of the things people liked about the brand in the first place). the high quality of the pieces was also a result of the fact that items were produced in SMALL batches in europe, where the EU regulations are very strict - moving the production to india and china will only result in lower quality, and it will ultimately become toxic for the environment. european factories won't be able to compete with the production costs of asian factories for long, which will also result in many europeans losing their jobs. for the fabrics, yes, sezane has always also used synthetic fibers for items that required them; however, in recent years, it has transitioned from a brand that uses mostly natural materials to a brand that is using mostly synthetic ones or, at the very least, blends, even when the garment's design does not require it. also regarding quality, the comparisons you are making are not fair as you can't compare the quality of items produced 3-4 years ago in europe with the quality of the items produced right now in china; it may be the same item, but it's definitely not the same quality. regarding customer support and items return / exchange - returning items is NOT free of charge, at least not everywhere, and i also live in europe. this is crazy to me when almost every online brand offers free returns, but on the other hand, i can also understand why sezane would want people to only buy items they are 110% sure they are keeping and somehow reduce pollution associated with transportation.

      Spot on! Agree 100% with your comment! I guess what will happen is that they will keep growing, producing in larger scale, making tons of money for the investors and the result will be a change in their customer base. They will appeal to the same customers that buy Zara, H&M, Mango, etc.

    Hi Sandra! Missed your videos! I agree with your stands about Sezane. In fact, it did happen to me with Paula babies 😅 I got the navy babies as soon as they came out, but after a few wears the back strap ripped in the middle. And their customer service was very supportive, I returned the babies and received a refund quickly. With that said, I also have another pair of babies that is keeping well! So I probably just had faulty pair. Other than that all my items are great, I love them and feel so chic wearing them!

    Nice to see another video from you and I look forward to your next review. I have noticed that some people have been creating click bait videos about falling out of love with the brand, but I haven’t noticed huge changes in their quality. The only thing that was disappointing was their increase in pricing in my country where the prices were already higher, but I understand why they did this. When people are just ordering a lot of things with the intention of returning them because returns are free, eventually this impacts the cost of shipping. The brand has great customer support and sometimes we have to be reasonable and accept that things happen. Recently I received a dress (Emy) and one of the buttons wasn’t sewn on and fell off when I took it out of the box. I didn’t complain because everything else was in order. I just sewed the button on.

    i agree with you completely) Sezane has a reasonable price point for quality fabric/constructed pieces. I have looked at many brands and nothing comes close- COS, MD, Reformation, Rouje, and many of the other French brands like Bash etc. Not to mention the aesthetic of those brands can't compete. Anyway, maybe it is our age as you say. 😂 loved that

    I agree. I’ve been shopping with Sezane since 2017. Anyone who knows prior - they were fantastic on slow releases and the quality. I’ve been more careful about fabrication and where it’s been made. If it’s not mixed with or 100% wool, cotton, cashmere and silk. I’m not interested.

    I’m glad you did this video and I agree with your thoughts about Sezane. I’ve seen some disappointing and frankly unfair reviews posted by some ‘aspiring influencers’ who didn’t get on Sezane influencers list and were venting their personal frustration in this manner For me, the Sezane magic is there. I’m more selective what I buy. This is not because of quality , but because I’ve learnt to choose carefully what to add to my wardrobe. There are plenty of exceptional items in every release. And I’m glad I don’t like everything, but there are always plenty of high quality items to choose from . I must compliment you on your content, you have really polished your presentation style and I look forward to your videos .

      Oooh yes this is so true. It’s always the “aspiring influencers” that would complain, that would ‘deinfluence’ people from Sezane, say that they’ve been a loyal customer with a good following size but still Sezane won’t notice them, then go on and make more videos about Sezane. It sounds like they have a personal grudge against them. Honestly, I understand that just as a company has the right to grow, consumers also have the right to complain if things aren’t up to their standards, but I see these “influencers” talk badly about the brand, say they will break up with them and never buy from them again. And it’s okay to stop there but then they rack in the views about breaking up with the brand, then proceed to do a haul video about the brand. It’s like, what is it? Are you actually going to break up with Sezane and never shop from them again like you say you would or are you still a fan? Honestly, I feel like I’ve hit an age where I don’t really care if people hate or love the brand, so long as I, myself love it and it meets MY standards, I’m happy. Sure I can complain that Sezane doesn’t make pant lengths inclusive go all heights and that’s a valid complaint, but to be so aggressive is so unnecessary. Also, I’m sure the pants are great for people who are tall, it’s just not for me. Instead of using my hypothetical platform to deinfluence everyone, I’d personally just move on and find pants from elsewhere that would fit.
